San Diego or Bust!

Hi folks. We’re a little behind this week, putting together our first printed collection. It’ll be a limited run, containing all of chapters 1 and 2, and will debut at the San Diego Comic Con in …
ONE WEEK??
Holy moley! Better get cracking!
Anyway, you can find me (Braden) at the Rare Earth Comics table in the small press section. I’ll be doing commissioned sketches and selling this book, as well as whatever other odds and ends I can cram into my bags.
We just wanted to give you a little preview of some of the art for the cover to tide you over until Friday. See you then!

a busy morning at the rectangle exchange

Amazing!  I put a little box in the sidebar to let you know where we’ll be, conventionally speaking!

(That is, “speaking in terms of conventions”.  Not “speaking in a conventional fashion”, although that may also be true.  [Though it usually isn't, in my case.])

It’s built out of Google Calendar, so you can add us very simply and unobtrusively to your Life Plan!  Just click the little button at the bottom–I promise we won’t spam your agenda.

For those keeping score, we also took out the two little Project Wonderful boxes in the sidebar, to enhance its utility.  I will miss their cute, symmetrical faces, but housekeeping needed to be done, and I think our other spots are a better deal anyway.

anachronism? or PANachronism?

I know I may be courting discredit with you period purists this week, but I am willing to wager my reputation as a historian that “What did the Buddhist say to the hot dog vendor?” is venerable enough to appear in this comic with impunity.  I defy you to prove otherwise.

The Ragbox

Hey, what’s that over there? Could it be more comics illustrated by Braden D. Lamb? It couldn’t be. He does a twice-weekly webcomic and has a full-time job.

The Ragbox is now available! This collection is the first three chapters of a graphic novel about a fictional neighborhood based on San Francisco’s Mission district. It was written by Dave Kender, and each chapter is illustrated by a different artist – in order, Mark Hamilton, Braden D. Lamb, and Matthew Reinke.

You can read some of it online before you buy. Check it out!

hermit, reversed

Just a couple of webcomic items I thought I’d mention:
thegreatdestroyerI especially enjoyed this week’s Subnormality.  For the unfamiliar, Subnormality is a weekly strip by Canadian pseudonym Winston Rountree.  Though often erring on the side of extreme verbosity, Rountree has mastered a certain bitter, world-weary charm accessible on even the most cursory skim.  (warning: harsh language)

09-The-Hermit

Meanwhile, Ellie Connelly author Indigo Kelleigh recently dropped this fantastic 8-bit Tarot Deck.  I could describe it, but the deck really speaks for itself.  Worth checking out, and a bargain at twice the price.  (warning: pixel nudity)

Astray3lunchFinally, a shout-out to Eldon Cowgur of Astray3, who’s pushing on towards his first anniversary!*  I did a write-up of this great, nostalgic, extremely regular strip over at The Elephant a while back and, like a punk, I never posted it here–an omission I am correcting right now.  (warning: freakin’ parrot with wheels for feet)
